Inauguration plans

Postby CharPacenti on Sun Jan 18, 2009 8:19 pm

Where do you plan to watch Barack Obama's inauguration on Tuesday?

I think I'm going to join the masses at the Arsht Center. It's such a big moment, I just want to be in a crowd.

How are you marking the day?

Don't forget to buy your newspaper as a souvenir. The Miami Herald is printing extra copies, but they will go fast.

I'll be at work, but I arranged a lunch celebration so we can all watch the inauguration and mark this historic day together at the office.

What I'm wondering (and hoping) is that our kids will be able to watch it at school. I forgot to check with the school last week and, since schools are closed tomorrow, we can't find out until Tuesday.

I know we can't know what might be planned by individual teachers, but does anybody know if this has been discussed as policy in Broward or Miami-Dade schools?

I'm going over my neighbor's house to watch it over lunch with a bunch of friends. We're TIVOing it for the kids, athough most of their teachers plan to have it on in the classroom.

My husband has the day off so we're going to stay home and watch it together I think. Alternatively I hoping to get together with a few fellow WAHM's and watch it together at one of their houses. I'm planning to ask at my daughter's school tomorrow if they are planning on watching it. If not I will probably pull her out at least for the end of the parade and the swearing in or record it for after school.

I'm going to watch it at Heather's mommy's house. Our kids can entertain each other for a while. Penelope has zero interest in TV. Elmo, Cinderella and Sponge Bob have failed. Obama has a better chance of changing the direction of the economy than catching her attention.
